DUBLIN, Calif. (KGO) — Dublin teachers will be going on strike on Monday unless there’s a last minute deal with the school district.
“Very disappointed that this is the path that we have to take, but we are 100% committed to our students,” said Brad Dobrzenski, Dublin Teachers Association President. “A whole weekend where district management could come to the table and bargain and avert a strike if they provide us with a student-centered proposal.”
A neutral fact-finding report released late Thursday recommended reducing class sizes and the district eventually fully-funding health care benefits.
As for wages, the report suggests a one-time payment to teachers of 1% of their salary, along with an increase of 2% this year.
The school district is planning to keep schools open if the strike happens.
“We are going to continue with serving meals, said Matt Campbell, DUSD Superintendent. “Each student will get a breakfast and a lunch. We have, we have curriculum for each grade level that’s adopted, that is aligned to our state standards.”
The school district says it is disappointed, but hopes to reach a deal.
