At least 2 hospitalized following possible hazmat incident in Alameda, officials say

ALAMEDA, Calif. (KGO) — Two people have been taken to the hospital on Monday after possibly being exposed to hazardous materials in Alameda, officials said.

Evacuations are underway at an apartment complex along the 700 block of Santa Clara Ave.

An Alameda fire public information officer told ABC7 Eyewitness News the first floor is evacuated, while residents in the other parts of the building are told to shelter in place.

Multiple ambulances have been called to the scene.

Streets are closed between Webster St. and Page St.
