Newly released surveillance video captured Bryan Kohberger casually walking into a Washington DMV, requesting a license plate change, and calmly chatting to an employee who mentioned the murders of four Idaho college students he committed just days earlier.
Security footage sent to Storyful by Washington State Department of Licensing shows Kohberger talking to the DMV employee at Pullman Vehicle Vessel Licensing on November 18, 2022, about how he is from the east coast and their respective baseball teams.

The worker explains she is originally from the Bay Area, but prefers living in Washington over California.
“I really like it though, I like how small, quiet and I would say safe, but the whole Moscow thing kinda makes it feel a little less,” she tells Kohberger.

Her comment was a direct reference to Kohberger’s slaying of four University of Idaho students at their Moscow home early on November 13.
The former Washington State University PhD student was arrested on December 30, 2022, in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
In July last year, Kohberger was sentenced to life in prison without parole after agreeing to plead guilty to murder as part of a deal with prosecutors to avoid the death penalty.
