SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — ABC7 Eyewitness News is learning more about what led to a cliff rescue at San Francisco’s Ocean Beach on Wednesday.
Firefighters now say the woman had been swimming at Kelly’s Cove, the beach just south of the Cliff House. The current pulled her away, and she decided to climb up onto the rocks, where she got stuck.

The San Francisco Fire Department had previously said that the woman had gone over the cliff and gotten stuck.
“She was taken by the current further away from her entry point,” Lt. Mariano Elias said. “When she realized she was getting pulled away from where she came in. She decided to go to the rocks and try to climb up the rocks themselves.”
A firefighter rappelled down the cliff to reach her, and after securing her, crews pulled her up to the top.
She apparently was visiting from another country and was unaware of how dangerous the surf can be.
