According to a Mercury News report, repair work has been completed following a December 2022 storm in which powerful waves struck the already-damaged south end of the wharf, sending part of the pier into the ocean.
Repairs included driving new pilings into the sea floor and reinforcing the wharf’s foundation. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for April 29 to mark the completion.

City officials say the improvements will help protect the historic structure from future storm damage while preserving its role as a popular destination for visitors.
