LOS ANGELES — Creatures are a huge part of the “Star Wars” galaxy, and “The Mandalorian and Grogu” is no exception!
A brand-new behind-the-scenes featurette takes fans inside the magic of bringing these new creatures to life, mixing old-school stop-motion with high-tech animatronics.
“We’re embracing a lot of tradition, bringing in all sorts of creative disciplines,” said director Jon Favreau.
“We use all these techniques to ground things. To make you feel like you’re in a real place with real characters, even though you’ve never seen these creatures or these droids before.”
Sigourney Weaver, who plays Colonel Ward, gushed about working with her little green co-star Grogu.
“All I see is this little face,” she said. “You cannot but fall in love with that little face.”
One of the galaxy’s most recognizable species, the Hutts, returns with the new character Rotta, brought to life by “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White.
The Anzellan species is also back, first seen as the tiny genius Babu Frik in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
See all these creatures and more when “The Mandalorian and Grogu” premieres May 22 in theaters.
