SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The annual “Hill Bomb” skateboarding event returned to San Francisco on Sunday, taking place at Telegraph Hill under a heavy police presence and in a new location.
The unsanctioned gathering, where participants skateboard down a steep hill, was moved from Dolores Park after the city installed speed bumps to deter skaters.
This year’s event drew more police officers than participants, according to organizers, who said they hope for better cooperation with city officials in the future.

“You got people coming from all around the world in here and they wanna hill bomb,” said Leroy Bermudez. “If there was somewhere that could be sanctioned, that would be great. I mean definitely I think the city officials should get more involved.”
Deonta Harper added, “Want everybody to come out and enjoy themselves. Whether you fall, slide out, or ride down the hill and make it, you’re gonna have the thrill of being together as a community.”
While not officially approved by the city, the Hill Bomb featured sponsored merchandise and skateboard giveaways for attendees.
