A man was arrested in a stabbing attack in Dania Beach that left a woman and a young girl hospitalized, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing in the 4500 block of Southwest 23rd Terrace on Wednesday afternoon, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.
While they were investigating, deputies learned that the people involved were at Memorial Regional Hospital.
Deputies responded to the hospital and took the suspect, 31-year-old Daquan Delancy, into custody.
Investigators believe Delancy and a woman had been involved in a verbal altercation before Delancy physically attacked her and threatened to stab her, officials said.
During the encounter, an 8-year-old girl suffered a significant cut to her hand, officials said.
The woman and the girl were treated at the hospital.
Delancy was arrested and booked into jail on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated child abuse, child neglect with great bodily harm and child neglect without great bodily harm.
