Authorities with Miami Gardens Police will hold a news conference on Wednesday after a person of interest in a sexual battery case at Florida Memorial University was identified.
The news conference will take place at 10 a.m. at the Miami Gardens Police headquarters.
According to police, the incident happened on Sunday, and the victim told officers she was waiting at a bus stop when an unknown man began whistling at her.
The woman then left the bus stop and walked back toward campus to go to her dormitory, with the suspect following her, police said.
At one point, the suspect pinned the victim against a building door and sexually battered her before fleeing the area, authorities said.
Police said the person of interest is being questioned.
Following the alleged sexual battery, FMU’s president announced additional security measures on the campus.
