New footage shows the arrest of a man who’s facing charges in the sexual battery of a student at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens last month.
Steven Rivers, 30, was taken into custody on Jan. 27 and faces multiple charges in the campus rape that happened two days earlier, on Jan. 25, authorities said.

The dashcam and body worn camera video obtained by NBC6 on Tuesday showed authorities taking Rivers into custody in a neighborhood.
“Hey Rivers, come talk to me a second, man, you’ll be okay,” an officer says in one of the videos. “Get your hands out of your pockets, you’ll be okay. Stop right there, stop right there, put your hands up. Sir, get on the ground for us, get on the ground, you’ll be okay.”
Multiple officers are then seen moving in and taking Rivers into custody.
The bodycamera footage shows Rivers on the ground in handcuffs surrounded by officers before he’s taken to a squad car.
Opa-locka Police officials said one of their sergeants got a tip from someone who lives in Miami Gardens about Rivers.
The sergeant located and identified Rivers, called in backup from Miami Gardens and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office who ultimately apprehended him.
Investigators said Rivers’ DNA matched DNA they found on the student.
Rivers was booked into jail on charges including sexual battery and robbery by sudden snatching, and was also charged for allegedly trying to grab a female detective after he was taken into custody.
A man facing charges in the sexual battery of a student at Florida Memorial University is now facing additional charges for attempting to do the same to a female officer, according to an arrest report.
