A woman said that a simple stop for a smoothie at a store in Sweetwater turned into a nightmare after a couple allegedly took a purse that she had left behind.
NBC6 spoke with the woman who said she believed that the couple was plotting to take her bag. She said they waited for about 10 minutes before going for the grab.
“I feel violated, I don’t feel safe,” the woman said.
The woman didn’t want to show her face or even mention her name when she spoke to NBC6.
She said the incident happened on Friday afternoon at Smoothie Spot near the Turnpike and Northwest 25th Street in Sweetwater.
“I walked out and mistakenly left the purse, and when I came back, discovered that the couple that was sitting next to me picked out the purse and left with it,” she said.
In surveillance video, the woman enters the shop with her bag in her hand, and in another video, it appears to show the same bag being left behind on a seat before it’s taken by a woman who was initially seated across from the bag
“They literally saw me sitting there, watched me walk out and instead of them giving it to the shop, they chose to pick it up,” she said.
The woman said she filed a report with Sweetwater Police, but decided to take matters into her own hands and is hoping the public could help her.
“They have my address, my car keys, my house keys,” she said. “I’m just hoping for justice because right now they already have my information.”
If you recognize the people in the video, she is asking you to speak up and contact Sweetwater Police
“I feel like I lost my whole world, to be honest, because everything was in my purse,” she said. “I feel like I lost my whole world.”
That woman also said she is grateful to the store for how they have supported her and acted quickly to investigate and release that video.
NBC6 has reached out to Sweetwater Police for updates on the investigation.
