New surveillance video shows the moments before a man was shot and killed outside of his Hialeah home.
Hialeah Police officials said they received calls at 6:18 a.m. from people who said they heard up to 10 shots in the area of West 19th Avenue and West 56th Street, near the entrance to an apartment complex.
Once they responded, officers found the body of the deceased. Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed the body covered by a yellow tarp on a sidewalk.
In video posted by Only in Dade, the victim can be seen walking on the sidewalk as the suspect, 37-year-old Dairon Rosas Delgado, trails behind him.
The suspect then appears to pull out his gun, opening fire in the victim’s direction.
Authorities say Delgado fled the scene after the shooting. A large law enforcement presence led to his arrest while he was driving in the area of West Fourth Avenue and West 18th Street in Hialeah.
He is charged with second-degree murder with a weapon.
The victim’s identity wasn’t released, but relatives identified him as Dick Estrada, a husband and father of two.
A woman who said Estrada was her cousin’s husband was on his way to work when he was shot.
“My cousin is a man who came here to work, to support his family,” said the woman, who wanted to be identified as Adelkis.
She said his wife realized something was wrong when his car was still parked out front — and he wasn’t answering his phone.
“I’m hurting because I care about my cousin. My cousin is like a sister,” she said.
A motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
