Video shows a good Samaritan and a deputy helping a woman leave her mobile home as it caught fire in West Little River late Tuesday, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and video of the scene.
Authorities were dispatched to the area of Northwest 81st Street and Northwest 9th Avenue before 10 p.m.
The sheriff’s office said the blaze was a residential fire and that deputies evacuated the tenants.
A man, who wanted to be identified only as Andrew, said he saw the smoke and flames and went inside to try to help.
In the footage he took on his cell phone, Andrew can be heard telling a woman “let’s go,” and then telling a responding deputy that she was “refusing to leave” as smoke fills the residence.
Eventually, the three of them make it outside, and flames can be seen coming out of a window before Andrew yells.
“Went inside, tried to help some people on the inside and got burned,” he said, showing the back of his arm. “It’s not that bad though, it’ll heal.”
The video also captured the sound of sirens and bright orange flames consuming the mobile home. Images of the aftermath show a charred structure.
NBC6 is working to learn more about whether anyone was injured or what could have caused the fire.
