It’s Monday, South Florida, and we remain locked into an unsettled, breezy pattern to kick off the work week.
This trend will stick around for another couple of days, but there will be breaks in the action.
Here’s what to know.
Is it going to rain today in Miami and South Florida?
Rain chances will be highest early each day with sunny breaks each afternoon.
The current wet pattern we are in began on Sunday as a weak front limped into the region. The front sits just to our south which has allowed a steady east breeze to set up.
This is a classic South Florida pattern known as showers on the breeze. The wind taps the moisture, and the front nearby provides lift to the atmosphere.
This type of a pattern tends to bring the bulk of the rain first half of the day, with a more isolated rain setup for the second half. We will be in this pattern through Tuesday with drier skies on Wednesday.
Temperatures
As far as temperatures go, we tend to see warmer mornings, with near normal to slightly cooler than average afternoons. Highs may struggle to get much above 80-81 degrees over the next couple of days.
Beach conditions
Keep in mind that the breeze is strong enough to keep a high risk of rip currents in play along with a small craft advisory.
The breeze may be with us all week.
How’s the drought doing?
While this pattern is annoying for school drop-off and the morning commute, we have made some big strides regarding our drought.
Most of our sensors have shown above average precipitation for the month of March.
