Panicked 911 calls were released Friday in the murder of Coral Springs vice mayor Nancy Metayer, who was allegedly shot to death by her husband.
“I’m calling to report a possible crime in Coral Springs,” a woman is heard telling the 911 operator.
The body of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen was found at her home in the 800 block of Northwest 127th Avenue at around 10 a.m. Wednesday, after an investigation into her well-being, police officials said.
Police arrested her husband, 40-year-old Stephen Bowen, in what was being investigated as an incident of domestic violence.

Family members called 911 as they were with police to try to get inside the couple’s home.
The woman caller insists that police should just “break down the door.”
“We have no reason to break down the door, so without a warrant or something, we can’t just break it down,” the operator says.
“I’m gonna give you a reason,” a man replies. “…OK, my nephew, her husband came to my house this morning …. And told me that he did something to her.”

According to an arrest report, Bowen’s uncle told police that Bowen said he shot Metayer three times with a shotgun the night before because he “couldn’t take it anymore.”
Police eventually entered the home and found Metayer’s body wrapped in blankets and black garbage bags in the master bedroom.
Bower was later arrested in Plantation.
The community will come together in a vigil Friday night to remember Metayer.
