A motorcyclist was killed in a crash that shut down Florida’s Turnpike in Cutler Bay early Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at around 4:25 a.m. in the northbound lanes near mile marker 12 for Caribbean Boulevard (U.S. 1)/Government Center. All lanes were closed, FHP said.
Authorities said a Suzuki motorcycle collided into a red Nissan sedan. The man on the motorcycle was “ejected and fell onto the roadway, where he died from his injuries.”
Traffic was being diverted at Southwest 216th Street, FHP said.
Drivers should take U.S. 1 or Krome Avenue as an alternate route.
