A mother and father have been arrested in the 2025 suffocation death of their 3-week-old son in Hollywood, police said.
Anfernee Watts, 25, and Crystal Garcia, 21, were arrested Wednesday on charges including aggravated manslaughter of a child, neglect of a child, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, failure to report a death to the medical examiner, and providing false information to law enforcement, Hollywood Police officials said Thursday.
The infant had been found unresponsive and not breathing at a home in the 6600 block of Thomas Street back on Aug. 1, 2025, police said.
Hollywood Fire Rescue pronounced him dead a short time later.
Investigators determined the infant died from suffocation and the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the manner of death a homicide.
Watts and Garcia were arrested with the help of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and booked into jail.
