Maria Delcarmen Alvarez-Concepcion, 57, was arrested Thursday on charges including accepting kickbacks/solicitation, organized fraud, and grand theft, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officials said.
According to the sheriff’s office and an arrest affidavit, Alvarez-Concepcion had been the building manager for the Greynolds Park Club Condominium on W. Dixie Highway.
Investigators said a tip was received that a contracted vendor was being forced to pay kickbacks to Alvarez-Concepcion when he provided services at the condo.
The avoid losing business, the vendor had paid Alvarez-Concepcion around $21,000 in cash or bank transfers, authorities said.
Alvarez-Concepcion was arrested at the condo community’s parking lot and booked into jail. She was expected to appear in bond court on Friday.
“This arrest reflects our commitment to protecting residents and holding accountable those who exploit positions of trust, and we will continue to aggressively combat association fraud in our community,” Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said in a statement.
