A suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a man who was gunned down outside his Hialeah home last month, authorities said.
Johnny George Mays, 48, of Cutler Bay, was arrested Thursday on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, an arrest report said.
According to the report, Hialeah Police had responded to the 600 block of West 15th Street back on March 28 for a report of shots fired.
That’s where the victim was found lying in a driveway with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead. His name wasn’t listed in the report.

Investigators found five spent shell casings at the scene and video surveillance that showed the shooting.
The video also showed the getaway vehicle staging a block away for over an hour waiting for the victim to leave his home, the report said.
In the video, the getaway vehicle approaches and the suspect gets out and runs toward victim in a shooting stance before running back to the vehicle and fleeing, the report said.
The vehicle was identified and investigators spoke with the registered owner, who said it had been in Mays’ possession since late 2025, the report said.
Mays was identified as the gunman and taken into custody, the report said. A motive for the shooting wasn’t discussed in the report.
