All lanes blocked on I-294 near O’Hare after crash, delays expected

A crash involving a semi-truck and three vehicles on the Tri-State Tollway forced a closure of all northbound lanes near O’Hare Airport Wednesday evening, state police said.

Around 7:17 p.m. Wednesday, three passenger vehicles and a semi-truck crashed on I-294 near Balmoral Avenue in Rosemont, Illinois State Police said.

As of 8:30 p.m., all lanes on northbound I-294 were blocked, ISP said, with traffic getting by “slowly” on the left shoulder. The Irving Park Road ramp to I-294 north was also shut down.

Extended lane closures are expected, ISP said.

Delays of up to an hour were expected as of 8:30 p.m., according to Total Traffic.
