Mystery, solved.
Netflix has unmasked more of its core cast for its upcoming live-action “Scooby-Doo” series.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the company revealed the actors who will play the Mystery, Inc. crew: Abby Ryder Fortson will play Velma Dinkley; Maxwell Jenkins will play Fred Jones (there better be an ascot involved); Tanner Hagen will play Shaggy Rogers.
The trio join “Regretting You” actress Mckenna Grace, 19, whose role as Daphne Blake was announced last month.
In true Fred fashion, Jenkins posted this comment to Netflix’s Instagram announcement: “Looks like we got another mystery on our hands!”
Many fans seemed pleased by the casting post, although others also wondered who would be cast as the titular character, Scooby-Doo.
In March 2025, Netflix described its new live-action “Scooby-Doo” series as a “modern reimagining” that will follow this premise: “Old friends Shaggy and Daphne team up at summer camp with scientific townie Velma and the strange but handsome Fred to solve the mystery of a lonely lost Great Dane puppy — who may have witnessed a supernatural murder.”
Filming reportedly starts next month.
