Most couples spend the hours before their wedding rehearsing vows or finalizing details for the ceremony, but one Laguna Hills couple chose to marry differently Friday.
Jasmin Cruz and Isamel Torres spent the night before their wedding at Dodger Stadium, watching their favorite team beat the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Cruz said she simply couldn’t miss Opening Day.
“I was like, ‘I have to see everything before wedding day,’” Cruz said.
The game only strengthened their love for each other.
“I saw her be just like me,” Torres said. “I was like, ‘Now I have to put a ring on it. There’s no walking away now.’”
Cruz is such a die-hard fan that she made Dodger blue a part of her wedding dress and wore blue beads and blue earrings.
“I know everyone says, ‘Wear something blue,’” Cruz said. “But my something blue is for something different. It’s definitely for my boys.”
Torres attended his first Dodger game Thursday, but it won’t be his last.
“I always wanted a hobby that I could get into,” Torres said. “We both like to be very outgoing, goofy and open. Everything I could ask for in a partner.”
The couple now has a shared passion for Dodger baseball and has already bought tickets to the team’s game next Monday.
