If you’re planning to drive late-night along the 405 Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass this week, expect some overnight lane reductions and ramp closures.
According to Caltrans, several portions of the freeway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday for K-rail installation and electrical work that’s part of the ongoing $143.7 million I-405 Sepulveda Pass Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Van Nuys and Westwood.
Caltrans said these routes will experience intermittent closures this week:
- Up to two lanes of northbound I-405 between Sepulveda and Victory boulevards.
- Up to two lanes of northbound I-405 between Wilshire Boulevard and Skirball Center/Mulholland drives.
- Up to two lanes of northbound I-405 between Skirball Center/Mulholland drives and Sepulveda Boulevard.
- The northbound I-405 off-ramp to Getty Center Drive.
- The Skirball Center Drive on-ramp to northbound I-405.
- The Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramp to northbound I-405.
- Up to two lanes of southbound I-405 between Skirball Center/Mulholland drives and Wilshire Boulevard.
- Up to two lanes of southbound I-405 between Skirball Center Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard.
- Up to two lanes on southbound I-405 between US-101 and Skirball Center/Mulholland drives.
- Up to two lanes of southbound I-405 between Victory Boulevard and US-101.
- The Victory Boulevard on-ramp to southbound I-405.
Caltrans’ I-405 Sepulveda Pass Pavement Rehabilitation Project spans a 10.2-mile stretch of the 405. It’s replacing sections of two lanes in each direction from Victory Boulevard to Mulholland Drive and aiming to improve safety and mobility along the primary corridor from Los Angeles to the San Fernando Valley.
The project began in 2025 and is expected to be completed by winter 2028-2029, with road work like this week’s work prompting intermittent closures throughout the project’s timeline.
