LA28 to roll out verified ticket resale program in 2027 as first ticket drop nears

More than 5 million people have signed up for the LA28 ticket draw but for those who don’t snag a coveted time slot for the ticket drops next month, there’s always the resale market.

LA28 announced Monday that it will open a verified multi-platform ticket resale program in 2027 “with multiple points of access for LA28 ticket resale.”

AXS and EVENTIM were already named the “Official Secondary Ticket Marketplace” for LA28, and now other resale platforms will include Ticketmaster and Sports Illustrated Tickets.

LA28 Chief Executive Officer Reynold Hoover said the verified resale options are meant to give fans the ability to “shop with confidence” through multiple points of access to verified LA28 tickets.

LA28 verified resale program

According to LA28, here’s what you need to know about the resale program:

• Primary tickets will only be available for purchase through LA28 via its official ticket service Provider, AXS and EVENTIM.
• The only websites that will provide verified LA28 tickets for resale will be AXS, Eventim, Ticketmaster and Sports Illustrated Tickets. Those platforms will not make LA28 tickets available for resale until 2027.
• If people see LA28 resale tickets on any website before 2027, those tickets have not been verified by LA28.

In a press release, reps from AXM, EVENTIM, Ticketmaster, and Sports Illustrated Tickets each said their platforms will aim to protect the integrity of the marketplace, and “deliver a secure, reliable, and transparent experience that fans can trust.”

The first LA28 ticket drop

The first LA28 ticket drop is coming in early April.

Here’s how it’ll work:

• Residents in Southern California and Oklahoma City (where some of the competitions will take place) who registered for the first LA28 ticket draw will be notified via email on a rolling basis of time slots to buy tickets this Tuesday through Saturday.
• The presale for LA and Oklahoma City locals will begin April 2.
• Locals who don’t receive a time slot during this period will receive an email on Tuesday letting them know that they will be automatically entered into the draw for “Drop 2” happening at a later date.
• On April 7, some “randomly selected” remaining registered LA28 fans will get an email with a time slot to buy “Drop 1” tickets; those who don’t receive a time slot will be automatically registered for the “Drop 2” draw.
• General public LA28 tickets will go on sale starting April 9.
• LA28 tickets will be on sale across all sports, plus the Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony. More than 40 venues across LA will host 36 sports for the 2028 Olympics.
• Fans selected for time slots can buy up to 12 tickets for Olympic events starting at $28 each — including a max of four Opening Ceremony tickets — plus up to 12 soccer tournament tickets that don’t count toward that general 12-ticket maximum.
• Drop 1 ends on April 19.
• Tickets for the LA28 Paralympic Games will go on sale in 2027.

Los Angeles is preparing to host the world in 2028 and hosting the opening ceremony will be the LA Memorial Coliseum. Mekhalo Medina reports for NBC4 at 8 p.m. on Feb. 22, 2026.

“This week marks the first opportunity for fans to claim a seat at the LA28 Olympic Games,” Hoover said in a press release Monday. “We’ve been thrilled to see the outpouring of enthusiasm from fans all around the world, and we’re counting down the final days to people being able to secure their tickets to history.”

Fans can sign up via LA28’s website to be notified about future ticket draws.

By the way, Los Angeles will become the third city ever to host three Olympic Games; LA hosted the competition in 1932 and 1984, too. This will mark LA’s first time hosting the Paralympic Games.

LA28 officials expect 15,000 athletes to compete in the 2028 Olympics. UCLA will transform into the Athlete Village.
