A juvenile driver was charged with several offenses after crashing into a home in suburban Algonquin, injuring two people, authorities said.
At approximately 9:53 p.m., police responded to the area of Boyer Road and Eineke Boulevard after a car left the roadway and struck the south side of a residence, Algonquin police said. One person inside the home sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital, police stated.
A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived but was later brought to the Algonquin Police Department by a parent and taken into custody, police stated.
The driver, whose age hasn’t been released, was charged with the following crimes through the juvenile court system:
- Reckless driving
- Failure to remain at the scene of a personal injury motor vehicle accident
- Driving without ever having been issued a driver’s license
- Speeding 26-34 miles per hour over the posted speed limit
- Driving too fast for conditions / failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident
- Disobeying a stop sign
