Roads in north suburb closed after pedestrian, struck, killed while crossing street

Streets were shut down in suburban Lincolnwood Tuesday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing the street during the busy rush hour commute.

About 6:34 a.m., a vehicle heading westbound on Touhy Avenue hit a pedestrian crossing the street at Kildare Avenue, Lincolnwood police said.

Those who responded to the scene performed CPR and the pedestrian, a male, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said, As of 9:40 a.m., Touhy Avenue between Kostner and Tripp remained closed.
