Planned construction that was expected to cause traffic delays at Hollywood Burbank Airport has been delayed, airport officials said Tuesday.
The project was set to close one lane of southbound Hollywood Way near Thornton Avenue and prompt travelers to arrive at least two hours before flights.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the construction near Hollywood Burbank Airport impacting Hollywood Way has been delayed,” the airport said in a statement Tuesday. “We will provide an update once we have the revised start date.”
The construction was expected to run through June 6 and take place Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Once underway, the work is expected to affect access to the airport, with drivers encouraged to use the Empire Avenue entrance or approach via westbound Thornton Avenue.
Plans also call for the temporary closure of the sidewalk and bike lane on the west side of Hollywood Way between Winona Avenue and Thornton Avenue.
