Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a new “Superman” attraction coming to Burbank.
Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and DC Studios announced Thursday that a new attraction dubbed “Superman Experience: Defenders Unite” will open on storied Stage 5 at the Warner Bros. Studios lot on April 18.
That date just so happens to be “Superman Day,” the anniversary of the character’s first appearance in “Action Comics” in 1938.
According to Warner Bros. Studios, the walkthrough experience will combine “first-person immersive gameplay and 3D video and sound with real-life sets and audio-animatronic technology to bring fans into Superman’s world.”
The attraction features an original storyline created specifically for the experience that brings guests into the world of the 2025 DC Studios film “Superman” as they work to defend Metropolis.
And yes, guests will get to “fly,” just like Superman.
“Inside the Fortress of Solitude, guests are recruited by Superman himself and receive Kryptonian abilities to utilize in a critical mission,” a press release said.
“Through immersive technology, guests will simulate taking to the skies alongside Superman and visit various locations — including a training session on the Kent Farm with Krypto the Superdog — before joining Superman in an epic battle against DC Super-Villain, Darkseid,” the press released continued. “Earth’s fate hangs in balance and only you and your team of newly empowered superheroes can help Superman save humanity.”
Guests will their scores logged and displayed in real-time while training and fighting off Darkseid’s invasion.
The attraction’s Fortress of Solitude hub will also feature interactive sets, props, and photo opportunities including:
- A life-sized audio animatronic Gary, aka Superman’s robot companion.
- A mini game called “Doghouse of Solitude” where fans can play catch with Krypto (he’s a good boy)
- A two-player puzzle game in which guests get to activate the “Phantom Zone Projector.”
- A Chaos Crystal that “will activate the entire Fortress of Solitude” as guests complete the activities.
Fans can treat themselves to snacks and drinks at the themed Fortress of Solitude Lounge and check out merch at new retail store inspired by “The Daily Planet,” the newspaper where Clark Kent famously worked.
Fans will also be able to buy a new DC comic book that’s exclusive to the attraction, fittingly titled “Superman: Defenders Unite,” written by Josh Trujillo with cover art by Bernard Chang.
Tickets for “Superman Experience: Defenders Unite” are separate from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood and can also be purchased as an “add-on” to the tour.
A shuttle will take guests from the studio’s welcome center to the “Superman” attraction at Stage 5.
