The 2026 Milan Cortina Olympic Games may have started Wednesday, but the highly anticipated Opening Ceremony isn’t until later in the week.
The event, which takes place Friday at the San Sire Olympic Stadium in Milan, includes a number of international performances, along with the traditional Parade of Nations and lighting of the Olympic torch.
Here’s how and where to watch it live, and how to watch it later that night.
When is the Opening Ceremony?
The Opening Ceremony, at San Sire Olympic Stadium, begins at 1 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 6. Live coverage of the event starts at 12:40 p.m. CT.
According to organizers, the ceremony is expected to last four hours.
Where can you watch the Opening Ceremony, and what channel is it on?
The Opening Ceremony will air live on NBC, It will also stream live on Peacock, NBC Chicago’s streaming channel and NBC Olympics platforms.
It will also be available to watch on NBC and on those platforms in primetime, starting at 7 p.m. CT Friday.
Who is performing at the Opening Ceremony?
In addition to the Parade of Nations and the lighting of the Olympic torch, the three-hour Opening Ceremony includes a number of performances from international artists. Here are some of the confirmed performers:
- Mariah Carey
- Italian actor Sabrina Impacciatore (from Season two of HBO’s “The White Lotus”)
- Italian actor Matilde De Angelis (from the Netflix series “The Law According to Lydia Poet”)
- Tenor Andrea Bocelli
- Golden Globe winner Laura Pausini
- Award-winning actor and producer Pierfrancesco Favino
When do the Olympics start?
The first Olympic events began on Feb. 4, with alpine skiing and curling. Ski jumping, snowboarding, figure skating and ice hockey will also kick off before the official launch of the Games.
The first medals will be awarded starting Feb. 7. The Games will continue until the Closing Ceremony on Feb. 22.
