Chicago police are investigating after a violent crash left one person dead and another injured Saturday night.
According to authorities, the driver of a black SUV ignored a red light as he was driving in the 7500 block of South South Chicago Avenue at approximately 10:40 p.m.
The SUV slammed into a white sedan being driven by another man, who was proceeding eastbound on 75th Street at the time of the crash, police said.
The driver of the SUV was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to authorities.
The driver of the sedan was also hospitalized, and was listed in critical condition.
The Major Accidents Unit is investigating the crash, and no further details were immediately available.
