Teen killed in shooting outside Champaign mall after fight

A 16-year-old was shot and killed after a fight broke out outside of a mall in Champaign on Saturday night.

According to Champaign police, the teen was involved in a large fight that erupted outside of Dick’s House of Sport, located in the Champaign Marketplace Mall, Saturday.

At approximately 6:41 p.m., police were called after shots were fired, and they discovered the teen, who had suffered gunshot wounds in the attack.

That teen was rushed to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

There are no suspects in custody, and it’s unclear how many individuals were involved in the fight outside of the mall.
