The Chicago Cubs are aiming to sign outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong to a “long-term contract extension,” according to a new report.
That report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan broke on Monday night, with the insider reporting the team is finalizing a deal with Crow-Armstrong just days before the start of the regular season.
Terms of the deal were not immediately reported, but it’s expected the contract would buy out Crow-Armstrong’s arbitration eligible years and allow him to become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the deal.
The star outfielder dazzled the baseball world during the 2025 season, racking up an impressive 6.0 Wins Above Replacement thanks to surging power and his incredible defense.
He was rewarded with his first career Gold Glove and his first career All-Star Game start, and finished in the top-10 of National League MVP voting.
Though he struggled down the stretch, Crow-Armstrong still hit 31 home runs and drove in 95 RBI’s while stealing 35 bases, slashing .247/.287/.481.
Crow-Amstrong hit a pair of home runs for Team USA during the recent World Baseball Classic, slashing .263/.333/.632 for the tournament. He drove in six RBI’s for the American squad, which finished as a runner-up to Venezuela. ‘
We will update this story with more details as they become available.
