The Chicago White Sox kicked off their 2026 season in Milwaukee Thursday, and Chase Meidroth wasted no time in making history for the team.
With Jacob Misiorowski on the mound for the Brewers, Meidroth led off the game by depositing a 99-mile-per-hour fastball over the left-center field wall, giving the White Sox a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
The home run not only got the White Sox off to a fast start at American Family Field, but it also made some history for the South Siders.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the lead-off home run by Meidroth is the first in an Opening Day for the White Sox in their 125-year history.
Meidroth played in 122 games for the White Sox last season, with five home runs and 23 RBI’s in his rookie season.
After their series in Milwaukee the White Sox will head to Florida to take on the Miami Marlins, with their home slate kicking off on April 2 when they face the American League-champion Toronto Blue Jays at Rate Field.
