Showers and thunderstorms in the Chicago area are having impacts on travel across the region.
According to the FAA, a ground stop has been issued at O’Hare International Airport, with flights bound for Chicago being held at their departing airports.
Flights are still active at Midway, according to the agency.
The current ground stop at O’Hare will run through 4:45 p.m. according to officials, and ther is a chance it could be extended.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue into the evening across the area, with parts of the region at an “enhanced” risk of severe weather. The main threat with the storms will be large hail, though tornadoes and damaging wind gusts cannot be ruled out.
A front pushing through the region will cause temperatures to plummet late Thursday and into Friday, and blustery conditions will cause frigid conditions across the area.
