Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Friday evening in west suburban Downers Grove, authorities said.
According to police, at around 6:53 p.m., the Downers Grove Police Department responded to a crash involving two vehicles at Highland Avenue and 35th Street. A preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle traveling south on Highland Avenue struck a second vehicle that was attempting to turn north on Highland Avenue from eastbound 35th Street.
The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger sustained critical injuries and was taken to an area hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were hospitalized with serious injuries, police said.
As of Saturday morning, the crash remained under investigation by Downers Grove police and the DuPage M.E.R.I.T. Major Crash Reconstruction Team.
The victims haven’t been identified as authorities work to notify family members.
