A man is in custody after he allegedly crashed a scooter and then fired shots at Chicago police on Saturday night.
According to authorities, officers on patrol in the 6400 block of South Green in the Englewood neighborhood saw a man operating a motorized scooter on a sidewalk at approximately 7:49 p.m.
The man then struck a light pole and fell to the ground, and officers approached him.
The man then fled the scene, and as officers followed he allegedly turned and fired multiple gunshots at police, according to officials.
Eventually officers were able to apprehend the individual, and charges are pending in the case, according to authorities.
A weapon was recovered at the scene, and an investigation continues.
