An Illinois State trooper car was totaled and and a trooper was injured after an early morning head-on crash in Chicago’s Garfield Park neighborhood overnight, with officers on scene as an investigation continued.
About 4:14 a.m., officials responded to a crash at West Jackson Boulevard and South Homman Avenue between a passenger vehicle and an ISP squad car. The driver of the passenger vehicle and the trooper were both transported to a nearby hospital with injuries, ISP said.
Video and photos captured from the scene showed two heavily damaged vehicles, with part of the roadway closed as police worked to investigate.
