A manager at a Rockford-area TJ Maxx was charged after a customer found a video camera inside a dressing room, and authorities are urging anyone who may have used the location’s dressing rooms recently to come forward, sheriff’s officials said.
According to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, on Feb. 28, deputies responded to TJ Maxx in Machesney Park after a customer reported discovering a video camera inside a women’s dressing room.
Following an investigation, authorities identified store manager Jeffrey Wallin as a suspect. Prosecutors subsequently charged him with unauthorized video recording and live video transmission, as well as obstructing justice/destruction of evidence.
Sheriff’s officials said electronic evidence was collected during the investigation. Based on a review of the evidence, anyone who may have used the store’s dressing rooms between May 1, 2025 and Feb. 28, 2026, was asked to contact sheriff’s Detectice Valdivieso at 815-319-6406.
Additional details on the case haven’t been released.
