The Chicago White Sox have postponed their home opener at Rate Field as the threat of showers and thunderstorms looms in the forecast.
The team made the announcement on Wednesday, 27 hours before they were scheduled to take the field against the reigning American League-champion Toronto Blue Jays on the South Side of Chicago.
According to the White Sox, all tickets for the Thursday game will be honored for the makeup date on Friday, with a start time of 1:10 p.m.
Parking lots will open at 10 a.m., and Rate Field’s gates will open at 11:10 a.m.
The team also announced that Chance the Rapper will throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the rescheduled game.
The White Sox have gotten off to a bit of a slow start on the season, getting swept by the Milwaukee Brewers and then splitting the first two games of their series against the Miami Marlins.
The team will return home Friday to host a three-game series against the Blue Jays, then will take on the Baltimore Orioles for three games before hitting the road again next week.
More information can be found on the team’s website.
