Tired of showing up to the airport without knowing how long the TSA line might be? Well, United Airlines unveiled a hack for that on Wednesday.
A new pilot program the airline is rolling out at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and all other United hub airports around the country allows travelers to see estimated wait times before arriving at the airport.
As of Wednesday, the wait time estimate is available in the United Airlines mobile app for customers traveling through all United hub airports.
“As part of a new pilot program, the feature provides regular wait time updates throughout the day, giving travelers timely information on airport security lines and helping them plan their travel with confidence,” the airline said in a press release.
The wait time feature can be found in the travel section of the app, the company said.
“We appreciate the work and professionalism of our TSA agents, and while most began receiving back pay earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security shutdown continues and people want to stay informed about expected security wait times at our airports,” said Jason Birnbaum, United’s Chief Information Officer. “Our customers rely on our mobile app for all their travel needs, and this new feature lets them know what to expect and better plan their trip.”
United hub airports are the following:
- O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
- Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
- Denver International Airport (DEN)
- Dulles International Airport (IAD)
- George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
