The Chicago area is at risk of severe weather, including large tornadoes, and we’ll have live updates throughout the evening.
The main threats will be tornadoes, especially in the western portions of the area, as well as wind gusts in excess of 70 miles per hour and hail two inches or more in diameter, according to the National Weather Service.

Here is a list of current watches and warnings:
-A tornado watch is in effect until 8 p.m. for McHenry, DeKalb, Kane, LaSalle, Kendall and Grundy counties in Illinois.
-A wind advisory is in effect for the entire NBC 5 viewing area until 7 p.m.
