Woman killed in Interstate 55 crash identified by Will County Coroner

The Will County Coroner’s Office on Sunday released the name of a woman who was killed in a collision on Interstate 55.

According to a Facebook post from the coroner’s office, Melissa Prosser, 26, died in a crash at around 4:14 a.m. along the southbound lanes of the interstate at mile marker 246. Illinois State Police were conducting an investigation as of Sunday evening.

Additional details weren’t immediately available.

An autopsy took place on Sunday, the coroner’s office said, adding final cause and manner of death will be determined following autopsy, police and toxicology reports.
