Popular sauté pans sold at major retailers recalled after reports they break while in use

A major recall has been issued for thousands of popular sauté pans sold at Costco, Walmart and Amazon, with customers urged to stop using the products immediately amid nearly 100 complaints of the pan breaking while in use.

The voluntary recall, from importer E. Mishan & Sons Inc., applies to Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue Stainless Steel Sauté Pans, according to an announcement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The metal cap on the screw that connects the sauté pan to the handle can become detached, the commission says, and “forcefully eject when heated.”

The impact poses a burn hazard to customers, officials said, with at least 98 incidents reported. At least one consumer reported receiving bruising and burn injuries.

The pans were sold in a two-piece set, consisting of one ten-inch pan and another measuring at 11.15 inches, the commission says. The sets, with UPC number 0-80313-08131-6, were sold in stores and online at Costco, Walmart and Amazon from Aug. 2021 through March 2026 for about $40.

In total, about 740,000 sets were recalled.

In a member letter titled “important safety recall notice” on Costco’s website, the pans were sold in stores as recently as March 27.

“If you are in possession of one of these Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue Stainless Steel Saute Pans, please immediately stop using the recalled products and return the item to costco for a full refund,” the letter said.
