A new kind of magic experience is set to open this month, marking what it says will be “a return to the golden age of Chicago-style live magic”
The Hand & The Eye is slated to open on April 18 in the city’s historic McCormick Mansion in Chicago, with magicians from around the world expected to perform intimate shows throughout several rooms in the mansion.
According to a release from the venue, the 30-,000-square-foot space will offer multiple performance areas ranging from small rooms to “grand salons, along with parlors and drawing rooms throughout.”
“The design allows for a carefully choreographed evening in which no two guest journeys are alike,” the release stated.
Food will also be served throughout the night via Levy Restaurants.
“We’re creating a singular experience of wonder, where memories are made and magic is shared. You become a part of the magic,” founder Glen Tullman said in a statement. “We’re investing in Chicago to bring the most unique magic experience in the world to life, and to play a role in reinvigorating the Magnificent Mile.”
Reservations will be required in advance, organizers said, and guests are encouraged to “dress with elegance.”
The venue will be open from 4-10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 4-11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The space was previously occupied by Lawry’s The Prime Rib for nearly half a century.
Lawry’s closed in 2020 after facing struggles from the coronavirus pandemic, an expiring lease and other issues, chief executive Ryan Wilson said at the time of the closure announcement.
