The Chicago White Sox announced Sunday that they will call up Noah Schultz, their top pitching prospect.
Schultz, the No. 2 prospect on the White Sox according to MLB Pipeline and the No. 46 prospect in all of baseball according to the website, is expected to make his debut later this week.
According to the White Sox, Schultz is expected to start Tuesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Rate Field.
A first-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, the 6-foot-10 Schultz has gotten off to a stellar start at Triple-A Charlotte, with a 3-0 record and a 1.29 ERA in 14 innings. He has 19 strikeouts and just two walks, and has only allowed four hits in those outings.
In parts of four minor-league seasons, Schultz has a 2.94 ERA in 52 starts, with 248 strikeouts in 202.1 innings.
Schultz has a solid fastball and has an elite-level slider, which has excited scouts since he was pitching for suburban Oswego East High School.
The Sox will open a three-game series against the Rays on Tuesday night, with first pitch set for 6:40 p.m.
