Police were investigating after a man died following a shooting in south suburban Oak Forest, authorities said.
According to a city of Oak Forest spokesperson, at around 4:47 p.m. on Saturday, the Oak Forest 911 Communications Center received a report of shots fired at 167th Street and Cicero Avenue. The Oak Forest Police Department responded to the scene, and officers located an adult male victim who had been shot multiple times on the left side of his body.
When officers arrived, an off-duty medical professional was rendering aid. Paramedics from the Oak Forest Fire Department then transported the victim to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as Latrell Williams, 30, of Alsip.
An investigation determined Williams had stopped in the median lane of the intersection when an unidentified suspect or suspects pulled alongside his vehicle and fired multiple shots, striking him, the spokesperson said.
The suspect vehicle then fled westbound on 167th Street toward Interstate 57.
Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call the Oak Forest Police Department at 708-687-1376.
