The Chicago area could see thunderstorms Monday afternoon and into the evening, with large hail and gusty winds possible.
A severe thunderstorm warning was already issued for parts of LaSalle and Livingston counties, with more warnings possible as several lines of storms push their way across the area.
Large hail is the main threat with storms that are developing, though gusty winds and heavy rain could also occur, with some localized flooding possible.
NBC 5’s Interactive Radar is capturing the scene as the storm system approaches the area.
Monday won’t be the only day we’ll see severe weather, either. Tuesday most of the Chicago area is at an “enhanced” risk of severe weather according to the Storm Prediction Center, and Wednesday another round of severe storms could hammer the region.
