Community leaders in San Diego celebrated a new housing complex in the Convoy District on Thursday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the grand opening of the “Alexan Camellia” apartments.
It marks the first time people will be able to live on Convoy Street. Local leaders say this will help round out a community that has served as a hub for Asian businesses.
According to Mayor Todd Gloria, this is the first of many new home developments coming to Kearny Mesa.
These kinds of developments will help bring down housing costs, Gloria said. Alexan Camellia offers 531 units, including studios and one and two bedroom apartments. They range between $2,800 to $4,400 per month.
