Travelers departing from San Diego International Airport, Sunday, were being urged to check their flight status and arrive earlier than usual as ongoing federal government operations could affect airport conditions.
Nicole Hall, public information officer for the airport, said passengers should plan to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure and verify flight details before heading to the airport.
“Checkpoint wait times and flight scheduling are subject to the operations of our federal and airline partners,” Hall said. “These operations are, at times, affected by the federal government shutdown.”
Airport officials noted that agencies such as the Transportation Security Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration play a critical role in daily operations, including security screening and air traffic control.
Any disruptions tied to federal funding issues could lead to longer wait times or scheduling changes.
Despite the challenges, Hall emphasized that safety remains the top priority.
“We appreciate the ongoing commitment from TSA, FAA and our partner airlines to maintain the safety and reliability of the national transportation system during this challenging time,” she said.
Airport officials said their focus remains on providing a safe and efficient travel experience, even as conditions remain fluid.
