Authorities reached out to the public Wednesday for help in identifying a man who shot a pistol into a crowded courtyard at a Spring Valley apartment complex late last summer, wounding two minors.
The assailant opened fire with a 9mm handgun at the residential complex in the 1600 block of Canyon Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 21, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
“The suspect shot approximately four times at the crowd, which resulted in two juveniles being struck by gunfire,” sheriff’s Detective Donald Frank said. “Additionally, a bullet entered a nearby apartment, striking a couch. Both juveniles were treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.”
A surveillance camera captured images of the shooter, who was dressed in dark pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers.
Anyone with information about the case was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
